MEMPHIS, Tenn. — On a Pebble Beach course described as “fast and fiery”, Project X shafts delivered superior consistency and accuracy to win the 2010 U.S. Open. It was the second straight major win of the 2010 season for Project X shafts.

This year’s U.S. Open champion played Project X in his irons to become the first European in 40 years to win the event. The latest addition to the Project X family, Project X graphite, had a dominate showing at the U.S Open with four shafts in the bags of the Top 10 finishers, and 29 shafts in play among the entire field.

“The U.S. Open is renowned for presenting challenging courses, and Project X proved once again it can deliver consistency and accuracy at one of the toughest global golf tournaments on record,” says Scott Hennessy, president and CEO of True Temper Sports. “The U.S. Open is characterized by tight scoring so players rely on their irons and drivers to provide maximum performance. That’s one major reason why True Temper, with 138 sets in play, outnumbered all other shaft manufacturers combined in the U.S. Open shaft count. We also saw our largest number of Project X graphite shafts in play to date on the PGA TOUR, and we expect this number to continue to grow throughout the rest of the season.”

The straight taper and short tip section of the Project X iron shafts provides maximum energy transfer with low spin rates required for penetrating iron shots. By combing this design platform with eight premium graphite materials, the Project X wood and hybrid shafts are quickly becoming known as the lowest spinning graphite shafts available. The Project X graphite shaft is available in woods and hybrids. Project X steel shafts are available in tapered and parallel irons.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — High-performance Project X steel shafts delivered another victory at the John Deere Classic in a field deemed the best ever at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. Playing Project X shafts, the champion tied the course record on Saturday by shooting a second round 61 and then fired third- final rounds on Sunday of 68 and 64, respectively, to finish with 20-under 264 and a three-stroke victory.

The win marked the 26th PGA TOUR victory this season for golf shafts manufactured by True Temper Sports. In addition to the champion, 100 percent of the Top 10 finishers at the John Deere Classic relied on products designed and manufactured by True Temper Sports, the number one shaft company in the world.

“Project X steel shafts feature a constant taper design that delivers more energy to the ball, one of the many performance benefits that has made Project X shafts so popular among top tour professionals worldwide,” says Scott Hennessy, president and CEO of True Temper Sports. “We congratulate the new John Deere champion on a terrific victory and we look forward to continuing to support the best players in the world with the industry’s most sophisticated shaft designs.”

Project X and Rifle shafts are two of the most popular golf shafts played on the world tours today. So far during the 2009 season, Project X and Rifle shafts have claimed wins at Mercedes-Benz Championship, Northern Trust Open, World Golf Championships (WGC) Accenture Match Play, The Honda Classic, WGC-CA Doral Invitational, Transitions Championship, Shell Houston Open, The Masters Tournament, Verizon Heritage, Crowne Plaza Invitational, St. Jude Classic and the John Deere Classic.

Project X steel shafts feature a unique variable taper design with a dedicated taper rate for each shaft in the set. Longer taper rate results in more energy transfer to the ball for a faster and flatter penetrating trajectory. The introduction of Project X driver and hybrid shafts will allow golfers to benefit from Project X shaft technologies from driver through wedge.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One of the most successful shaft brands in the history of the game, Project X delivered wins on the PGA, European and Nationwide Tours this weekend. The three-tour sweep widened the gap between True Temper and all other shaft manufacturers combined as True Temper marked its 21st PGA Tour win, 14th European Tour win and ninth Nationwide Tour win this season.

This week’s champion on the PGA TOUR overcame a four-shot deficit on Sunday to win The Memorial Tournament with Project X shafts throughout his entire bag, including the new Project X graphite shafts in his driver and fairway woods with Project X 7.0 steel shafts in his irons. Equally dramatic, this week’s victor at the Celtic Manor Wales Open won his 50th European Tour event, while playing Project X shafts in his irons; and the ‘Big Break’ alumni won the Prince George’s County Open on the Nationwide Tour with Project X shafts in his irons.

True Temper continues to lead the field on the professional tours. At The Memorial, nine of the players finishing in the Top 10 played shafts designed by True Temper. Plus, True Temper led the shaft count with 102 iron sets in play on the PGA Tour and 143 sets in play on the Nationwide Tour.

“This season, True Temper has led every single iron shaft count on the PGA, Nationwide and European tour, and we continue to see our graphite numbers rise dramatically in the wood counts,” says Scott Hennessy, president and CEO of True Temper Sports. “This is in large part a result of the popularity and success of our new Project X graphite shaft. Just this week alone, we had over 100 Project X graphite shafts in play across the global tours, and with this weekend’s win at The Memorial, we expect that number to continue to escalate throughout the rest of the season.”

Already a multiple winner on the pro tours, True Temper’s new Project X graphite shaft features a unique tapered design that maximizes a player’s distance through the precise integration of frequency, weight distribution and launch profiles. The new shaft combines a stable butt section with a constant taper bend profile and reinforces the tip with two additional wraps of super high modulus graphite in the lower third of the golf shaft. The result is a reduction of spin by up to 500 RPM more than other low-spin Tour model competitors. Project X graphite shafts are available in woods and hybrids.
