It’s been a great season for Project X shafts, with three consecutive major titles and more than 35 victories across the PGA, Nationwide and European Tours. Also, to date the new Project X graphite shaft is the winningest driver shaft on the 2010 PGA TOUR.
This year’s Masters champion earned his third Green Jacket and fourth major title, playing Project X shafts in his irons. The victory at Augusta National was the 10th consecutive win at The Masters for shafts designed and manufactured by True Temper.
At the U.S. Open, Project X shafts delivered winning consistency and accuracy on a Pebble Beach course which some described as “fast and fiery.” This year’s U.S. Open champion played Project X in his irons to become the first European in 40 years to win the event. Project X graphite had a dominate showing at the U.S Open with four shafts in the bags of the Top 10 finishers, and 29 shafts in play among the entire field.
The British Open’s Claret Jug winner played the new Project X graphite shaft in his driver and fairway woods to lead the field in driving accuracy with an astounding 86 percent of fairways hit and averaging more than 319 yards per drive. He fired off a seven-shot victory — only two strokes off from the largest victory margin in British Open history.
“The PGA TOUR’s major events showcase the best golfers in the world, and we are extremely excited for Project X shafts to have won three of the four majors this year,” says Chad Hall, director of global tour operations for True Temper Sports. “Our engineers remain dedicated to providing golfers of all skill levels with shafts that provide maximum performance in accuracy, consistency and distance.”
